May 14th, 2005 - "Pistol" Pete Johnston Smokes the
Competition
Mr. Locked & Loaded "Pistol" Pete Johnston was on fire as he
took it to the competition in his Factory SKE Open Outlaw Kart
powered by a Becker Honda power plant. Pete was hot right
from the start and the excitement was filling the air as the
stage had been set in the last couple weeks. "Pistol" has
obviously been ready to unload and wanting to show the quickness
of his new ride coupled with his explosive talent.
Pete set 2nd fast time while having to pass other drivers in his
qualifying effort otherwise he would have very well had a sweep
on the night. Coming from last in the Trophy Dash, Pete
charged by the competition to take an impressive win and set the
stage for the show that was about to come.
Pete starting 3rd row inside wasted no time in showing his hand
in the main event. "Pistol" unloaded his wrath in the
opening first turn. Making a inside move he picked off
most of the leaders in turn one and by turn 3 he had taken the
lead. Pete went on to Smoke the rest of the field as he
impressively pulled away. "Pistol" knows only one speed,
and it is FULL TILT all the time! Coming up on lappers,
Pete stayed hammered down and was blasting by the tail end of
the field. As Pete came upon a gaggle of karts he stayed
committed to blasting by them. While making a move around the
top, a lapper slid up to the top cutting Pete off and sending
him flipping. "Pistol" hit the ground running on all fours an
never let the motor die. Still running he kept his lead
position as they reset the field. Pete went on to still
take the win pulling away at the checker.
If you have any questions about how tough an SKE Kart is.., then
the questions have been answered as SKE has the driver that can
dish out and put any Kart to the ultimate test. It's Pete Proof!
Tyler Reddick, made it 3 wins out of the last 4 Box Stock races
by winning at Cycleland Speedway and Southern Oregon Speedway
back to back. Tyler also won the trophy dash at Cycleland
as he walked away from the competition sporting his new Predator
Motor's power plant. Thanks Clarence Marshall!
In the Main event, Tyler started on the 3rd row inside and took
little time to take the lead and start pulling away from the
competition. Tyler using his ultra smooth driving style
makes the Kart look like it's always on a rail.
Congratulations to both "Pistol" Pete Johnston and Tyler
Reddick on their impressive victories!
